Our Mission and Purpose
HOMAGE at UTD serves as a safe forum for members to meet and discuss thoughts, ideas, and issues facing Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgendered (GLBT) students. In addition to meetings, HOMAGE at UTD participates in both GLBT and broader world communities in the spirit of camaraderie and to promote volunteerism, community service, and educational programs.
Our on Campus Philosophy
We are a new type of student organization that sets a course to include a display of sincere respect for all, while reinforcing the worth of minority groups with a specific focus on the GLBT community. Not be left from our community are those striving for change and our stongest supporters, the straight members of our community. While we are most easily defined as a "gay-straight alliance," this phrase obviously does not fully encompass who we are. As we stated, though our primary focus is on the needs of the GLBT community, we know that a significant number of our members and supports identity as straight. It is for this reason, that we regularly find ourself as "The first GLBTS organization".
Our members are your best-friend, fellow student, family, professor, co-worker, neighbor, study-partner, tutor, and more. We believe that it is our members and their strong moral compass that will allow us to achieve the primary goal of this organization: "Honoring Humanity's Diversity with Integrity".
